Job Title: Director of Development

Description:

The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, the world's most prestigious non-profit jazz education organization, is seeking a full-time Director of Development. This senior staff member will plan, implement, and manage the Institute's comprehensive development program, securing contributed income through annual giving, endowment gifts, individual major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation and government grants, and planned gifts. The Director of Development will cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with current and potential donors both locally and nationally.

Education:

A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of proven success in development, with demonstrated experience in face-to-face major gift solicitation. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be willing to travel regularly.
